Brownsburg West 8th Grade softball defeated Zionsville Middle School 6-5 on Tuesday, after Kailey Mock stole home for the game-winning run when the Eagles attempted a pickoff at 2nd base. Birkla helped earn the win as the right-handed pitcher allowed only seven hits and two runs over four innings, striking out five and walking none. Brooke Edwards took over the mound and helped close out the game with four strikeouts. Mock and Dawsyn Carroll shined in the outfield, stealing fly balls away from the Eagles. Sophia Helms and Penny Athens also made an impact on the field by catching multiple pop-ups and line drives. The Lady Bulldogs piled up 16 hits in the game. Chloe Jones collected four hits in four at-bats, as she doubled in the fifth inning, doubled in the first inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the seventh inning. Birkla led the team with two runs batted in. Andrew, Carroll, Huddleston, and Mock each collected multiple hits for the team.
