Last night, the 8th grade football team took on Center Grove Central in the final home game of the 2026 season. The Dogs took a 15-14 lead into halftime. Near the end of the third quarter, the Dogs held on to their 1- -point lead. Butt, the Trojan offense was at the Dogs' 6- yard-line poised to score a touchdown and take the lead. But, the hard- hitting Dogs defense shut the door. The offense took over and went on an amazing drive to win the game. The 12 play, 84- yard touchdown drive ended with Sam Prickel bulldozing his way into the end zone from three yards out. Up 7 points, the Dogs had a decision to make. Kick the extra point and take an 8-point lead. Or, go for two and put the game out of reach. The Dogs went for two and quarterback Evan Arnold pounded his way across the goal line ending the game. Miles Mays ran the ball with fury all game long and the Dogs pulled off the win 23-14. The team is back in action next week with a JV game at East and a powerhouse showdown at Carmel Middle School on Thursday night.
