Brownsburg West Softball topped Zionsville West 6-4 on Thursday after taking the lead early in the game. The Bulldogs were the first to get on the board in the first with two runs scored. In the bottom of the fourth, Brownsburg broke the tie when Harper Gasvoda doubled, scoring one run. Then, a single by Raegan James followed to extend the lead to 5-2. Brownsburg West 8th Bulldogs collected 12 hits in the game. James provided a pop in the middle of the lineup, which led Brownsburg with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day, and Gasvoda went 3-for-4. Stella Faires, Aubrey Burress, and Kalli Dobrolecki each collected multiple hits for Brownsburg West. Faires and Burress had huge plays in the outfield that stopped Zionsville from scoring. Burress dove and caught a fly ball to left field. Then, threw it into Gasvoda, who tossed it to Lucy Rose for a huge double-play when bases were loaded and ended the inning. Raelyn Hoffer remained in the circle for the Bulldogs. The right-handed pitcher struck out two batters and drove in the strike zone over and over in seven innings. Emma Staley was a powerhouse behind the plate all night.
