The 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team took on defending champion Tri-West last night in the Hendricks County Tournament. The Bruins jumped out to a six-point lead early in the second quarter, but the Dogs responded with a 7–0 run to take the lead, capped by a Logan Downs three-point play off a steal. The teams headed into the locker room tied at 17. Tri-West came out strong in the third quarter, building a 12-point advantage heading into the final six minutes. The Bulldogs never backed down, staying relentless and cutting the deficit to just two points with a little over a minute remaining on a Tjay Jordan layup off a Levi Deer assist. In the final minute, the Bruins were able to hang on, closing out the season for the West Bulldogs with a 46–39 win. Logan Downs recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Roman Easton added seven points, while Kingston Rideout finished with six points and seven rebounds. Coach Chastain was proud of the team’s resilience down the stretch and their ability to push some very good teams to the final buzzer in tournament season.
